It is cold in Chicago and I miss our time together in the warmth of Thailand. I think of all of you often and I am thankful of the memories from TYC 2011. I hope that everyone is doing well and thinking of ways to work towards a sustainable future. My family will try to compost beginning in the summer of 2012. Peace to all of you.

Hardly a day goes by without thinking about my Japanese and Thailand friends and the challenges both of you face in restoring your countries to what they were before your natural disasters. It is most unfortunate that mankind can exacerbate the effects of these disasters by using power or felling forests. For us all, I'm sure, this highlights the importance of the message from our conference and reminds us of the important work we all have ahead. Blessed be you with strength and optimism.
