Regarding the TOSHIBA YOUTH CONFARENCE, [ IMPORTANT ]
Our camp will be starting soon and we hope you are getting ready for it.
As we already mentioned, you have assignments to submit before the camp.
However, some of the participants have not completed them.
Completion of the assignments is one of the key conditions to attend the camp. If not, it means that you have not fulfilled the conditions and may not be able to attend to the camp.
PLEASE complete and submit the assignments by July 28th.

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Assignment 3: Report

Pick one current energy policy and one energy current technology that is being implemented in your country and answer the following questions:

The announcement of the assignment will be posted on the “INFORMATION” section of the act-eco.net . Each team must upload their report of both POLICY and TECHNOLOGY on the website by June 30, through “Add REPORT” pages.
By July 10th, please select one topic either POLICY or TECHNOLOGY to present during the camp.
Each school or team will prepare presentation of different topic which other school or team in a same country didn’t choose for presentation at the beginning of the camp. Please also submit your presentation data or power point file by e-mail to future@begoodcafe.com by July 20th.
POLICY:
- Explain the policy. At what level of government is this policy being suggested? At what stage in the political process is this policy?
- Explain how this policy will help reduce the use of fossil fuels or carbon emissions.
- Who is in support of this policy? Why?
- Who is opposed to this policy? Why?
- Explain the advantages to this policy. Explain the disadvantages to this policy.
- Explain the costs and benefits to this policy.
TECHNOLOGY:
- Explain the specific piece of technology being used. At what stage is the technology?
- Explain how this technology will help reduce the use of fossil fuels or carbon emissions.
- Who is in support of this technology? Why?
- Who is opposed to this technology? Why?
- Explain the advantages to this technology. Explain the disadvantages to this technology.
- Explain the costs and benefits to this technology.
Each school or team will prepare presentation of different topic which other school or team in a same country didn’t choose and present it at the beginning of the camp. Students will work in groups of 2 to create a presentation on one current policy or one current technology.

Regulation of Ecotube has changed for much easier participation.
Changed are listed below :
1) Students from TYC 2010 can participate in the competition.
2) The deadline will be 30th, September, 2010
3) No need to post a movie once a month. You only need to post ONE movie till the deadline.

Please also take a photo of interviewee with yourself. (This assignment is to be prepared by each participant. Length: less than 300 words)

Take pictures of five different scenes of your daily life (meals, garbage, electricity, transportation, and shopping) that show how energy and resources are consumed everyday, and post them on the website. (This assignment is to be submitted by each individual student.)
Post the pictures on the website with short descriptions of each photos.

Introduce yourself with daily lives to others.
Think about the relationship between energy issues and our lives and society, from examples in everyday life. Learn from the photos of others and find differences and similarities among different countries.

Welcome to act-eco.net, an official site for Toshiba Youth Conference for a Sustainable Future 2010.
We hope this site will bring you a good opportunity to communicate with other participants from US, Thai, Poland and Japan as well as people who will join this conference even before we meet each other in Japan.
During the camp in Japan, the discussion will be developped with a following theme. You will also start working as a journalist from the pre-camp assignments and are asked to become a journalist to make a newspaper which contains pre-camp assignment and what you will be experiencing during the camp or what you will be discussing under the theme. Please have a journalistic point of view to the fact when you are going to submit pre-assignment and think about what you want to discuss when you all get together in Japan.

For the members for this TYC 2010, Toshiba Youth Conference 2010, you have an account to log-in at act-eco.net and can upload "EcoTube"(short-movies), "Speak Out!"(blogs), "My Life"(Pre-Assignment 1), "Interview"(Pre-Assignment 2), "Report"(Pre-Assignment 3) and can edit your account information by clicking "My account".
Let's get started by adding your introduction and profile from "My accont" on the left of this page in "Navigation" pane.
