TOSHIBA YOUTH CONFERENCE
FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE 2010
Objectives
Recent years have seen growing concerns that environmental change is reaching a point
that may threaten our continued existence. This is one of the greatest issues facing today’s
youth, who are the standard bearers of the next generation.
This program will provide participants with the opportunity to examine, think about, and
deeply discuss a range of environmental issues, and to develop ideas for creating a better
future by working together with one another beyond nationalities.
Target audience
Teacher-Student groups from selected schools
Students: Those interested in environmental issues and that are motivated to discuss as well as act to solve such issues with other students.
Teachers: Those passionate about environmental education and international exchange as well as an eagerness to take the experience back to their schools and localities to promote future educational activities.
Theme
Exploring how to build a sustainable society by focusing on global environmental issues.
Intended participants
High school students and their teachers
Participating students should have a keen interest in environmental issues and be willing to discuss and share their opinions with other participants. They should also be comfortable communicating in English.
Participating teachers should have an interest in environmental study or science education and in international education. The teachers should also be prepared to apply the experiences gained through the program back in their own school and in their local activities.
Language
English will be the language of the conference.
