Halve CO2 Emissions by 2050 – Achieving the Best Mix of Energy Resources

The debate over how to tackle global warming has not just focused on energy conservation, but has also included discussions of sustainable energy resources. To date, efforts have been made to shift from petroleum and coal based energy to that of natural gas and nuclear. And more recently, there has been an expansion of natural sources of energy, including wind, solar, and biomass, which has enabled us to try different mixes of energy resources.

Let’s think about how we can halve CO2 emissions by 2050 and what would be the best mix of energy resources to achieve this goal, considering different characteristics and potential of various energy sources. Let’s also think about what we should do individually to achieve a sustainable energy society; What are concrete measures to achieve this goal and how can we introduce new energy practices to our own towns and communities?
